Elegant Lounge/Home office

The client instructed me to help with the interiors of the home they lived in. Our initial focus was on a front reception room (she has a large family open plan room on the other side) that was used for a variety of purposes but lacked a clear focus. In discussions, she mentioned that given the current situation of working from home, she was looking for a home office, but at the same time did not want a room that only served that purpose. She also wanted the ability to relax in the room once the working day was finished, as well as being able to use it to entertain if the family chose. We decided to create a glamorous home office that was based loosely on the idea of a ‘gentleman’s club’ – a sophisticated adult space that doubled as an office and a place to enjoy a good conversation after hours. After discussing a variety of options for the long wall, my client decided on a feature Venetian plaster wall she had seen and the result is truly amazing. We decided to embrace the soothing darker elements of the room, given the gorgeous flooring and the brown sofa the client wanted to retain. We added a stunning wooden sideboard to provide storage for their paperwork and books and a matching desk with drawers to ensure that clutter was kept to a minimum. We added two armchairs for further seating, and a matching sleek coffee table and side table that wouldn't overpower the room. Embracing the colour palette, we added a large contemporary rug that picks up on the colours of the wall perfectly. We were keen to add art to the wall that was deeply personal and the clients chose map plaques of cities that carry personal meaning to them - the entire montage in monochrome colours looks stunning above the chesterfield sofa. The side/coffee tables styling has allowed us to incorporate glamorous elements such as candles to help set a relaxing mood. Large ombre metal planters and a lovely tripod lamp complete the glamorous setup. We have been able to achieve exactly what we set up to do – transform a loved but unfocused space into a dedicated room that serves a multifunctional purpose of a home office and an entertainment space with aplomb!
