Designer's notes
My client was very keen on a large velvet headboard and we used this as a starting point for the room's interiors. The bed is custom made and provides a platform base (versus slats) ensuring that the mattress rests on a firm base and restful sleep. I decided that a black and white palette would work beautifully to highlight the statement bed's pop of colour. To add drama, we added a stunning mural wallpaper on the back bedroom wall. The gorgeous grey faux shagreen bedside tables are one of my favourite elements in the room as they provide both practical storage and a stunning surface area for the dramatic oversized metallic lamps. The crisp white bedlinen trimmed with black provides the perfect ‘hotel bed’ inviting look and the black and white cushions provide a pop of colour and geometric pattern. We finished off the bedding element with a black velvet quilt draped at the end of the bed. The black wood dressing table and luxurious velvet stool add to the sophisticated feel of the room. We then used a small corner to add a chair and a gallery wall to display some lovely photos of the couple. This is not a timid room but one that immediately commands attention when you enter. I am delighted with the outcome in this room, as are my clients!
